Das bilaterale Kooperationsprogramm des BMELV unterstützt durch praxisnahe Projekte die Entwicklung der Bereiche Ernährung, Landwirtschaft und Verbraucherschutz im Ausland. Es vermittelt zukunftsfähiges Know-how und leistet somit einen Beitrag zur weltweiten Ernährungssicherung sowie zum Schutz natürlicher Ressourcen. Ein wichtiges Prinzip der Projektarbeit ist "Partnerschaftliche Zusammenarbeit auf Augenhöhe zum beiderseitigen Nutzen", wobei Aufbau und Pflege der politischen und wirtschaftlichen Beziehungen eine besondere Rolle spielen.
