Development of animal husbandry and plant health and strengthening of the Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Committee and the Plant Quarantine and Protection Agency

The aim of the current project "Support for economic reforms and sustainable economic development in Uzbekistan" is to create sustainable employment and better income opportunities within the framework of sustainable economic development.

It contributes to the implementation of economic policy reform measures in the sectors of agriculture, agro-business and tourism sectors. It promotes inclusive growth and sustainable economic development with a focus on rural regions and, due to its implementation orientation; it makes a direct contribution to the creation of employment and income opportunities.

Objective: As part of the implementation of economic reforms, the local economic development is strengthened in regions of Uzbekistan with a focus on Karakalpakstan, Khorezm, Tashkent, Fergana, Namangan and Andijan.

 

This is achieved through 4 fields of action:

  1. Job creation and income generation in agriculture, agro-business, tourism, information technology (IT), textiles
  • Introduction of product, process and market innovations
  • Promotion of international standards and certification
  1. Strengthening the capacities of service providers
  • Introduction of new services
  • Supporting cooperatives to develop viable business models
  1. Strengthening the capacity of state actors in participatory territorial development planning
  • Training of civil servants from the Academy of Administration
  • Promoting community-based approaches to development
  1. Initiation of public-private dialogue forums
  • Developing strategic position papers to promote regional value addition.
  • Cooperation between the public and private sectors.
