Feasibility Study on Agricultural Value Chains

The Agricultural Finance Program promotes lending to agricultural micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME). The purpose of this program is to sustainably expand lending to agricultural MSME. This is to contribute to the promotion of the private sector in Armenia by broadening and deepening of the financial sector. The expansion of agricultural lending is to further contribute to the creation and securing of employment and income as well as food security in rural areas.

The feasibility study would look into the cost and opportunities of providing financing to farmers and agricultural and agribusiness enterprises along revealed value chains with the goal to enable more farmers/MSME to overcome barriers preventing their effective involvement in the selected agricultural value chains. Therefore the main objectives of the study will be to:

  • Analyze the feasibility of identifying up to four value chains in agriculture for the new program as one component as mentioned above;  

  • Identify feasible financing schemes and related Technical Assistance;

  • Provide recommendations on the project design and setup (in close cooperation with CBA, GAF and KfW Entwicklungsbank).

 

Qualifications: 

The study will be performed by a team of (at least) one experienced international finance expert which has

  • a proven track record in the area of agriculture and agricultural finance and value chain financing

  • The international finance expert(s) is/are expected to have large practical experience in different agriculture projects and agricultural finance projects in the region, with experience in Armenia being a strong asset.

  • He/she is expected to provide the main input into the study and to coordinate the work of the research specialist and, possibly, other support staff.

 

 

Start / Duration: 

The work on the project shall commence promptly upon award of the contract. The assignment is expected to last for no longer than six weeks and not more then 50 working days
