German-Mongolian cooperation project - Sustainable Agriculture (Phase I +II)

The aim of the project is to promote the development of adapted, sustainable agricultural practices in the project regions by using German agricultural machinery, seeds and modern production methods. The project offers training courses, workshops and seminars on a variety of relevant subjects, to enable participants to apply the new knowledge on their farms and thus, contribute to the development of a sustainable Mongolian agriculture.

With three priority areas “setting up of demonstration farms”, “training measures for the target groups” and along with “agricultural policy advice” 'the initial composition of the project had been quite complex. Owing to this complexity, the second phase of the project focuses on agricultural expert advice to improve the framework which is considered as an important basis for the modernisation of agriculture.

The project objective of the new phase is to intensify the exchange between Germany and Mongolia on agricultural technical issues in the area of sustainable agriculture.

The technical assistance seeks to achieve the following results:

  • An agricultural technical dialogue on selected topics promotes the modernisation of agriculture towards sustainability.
  • Multipliers from agricultural policy, agriculture and the agri-food sector will be reached and the existing interest in sustainable agriculture will be strengthened through specific technical and informational events in Mongolia.
  • The project continuously provides the substantial partners with technically relevant and sound information and analyses.
