Ukrainian Pavilion at BIOFACH 2018

The sector of organic agriculture in the Ukraine has a high potential due to good production conditions and solid trade relations. The demand on the Western European markets, especially Germany and France, is steadily increasing. Already today, large proportions of organic products imported to Germany come from Ukraine, including wheat, grain maize and sunflowers. Also the number of companies offering processed products is growing.

For the fifth time the Ukrainian National Pavilion (Hall 4A) presents the current status of organic Agriculture in the Ukraine at the international fair BIOFACH 2018 from 14th – 17th of February in Nuremberg. This year Ukraine will not only present the record number of participants but also the biggest number of processing companies. The trend in recent development of the organic sector tends to shift the focus from the export of raw material to processing as well as expanding the product range.

This year at the Ukrainian Forum “Ukraine open to Organic” the participants will learn more about organic farming, discover latest organic trends, best practices and unique approaches to the production and processing of organic products implemented by Ukrainian organic operators. Ukraine can impress not only with the land areas and product volumes but also as a producer of final products with added value. The forum will be held on 15th of February, 12:00 – 13:30h in Room Istanbul NCC East.

The Ukrainian National Pavilion is organised by a Consortium of three Ukrainian key stakeholders in Organic Agriculture: QueS, Organic Standard and Green Dossier. Since 2014 the Ukrainian National Pavilion has been supported by the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) in the framework of the Swiss-Ukrainian cooperation project “Organic Market Development in Ukraine”, implemented by the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture (FiBL, Switzerland). For the last two years the Pavilion has also been co-funded by the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) through the AGRITRADE project (“Advice to Ukraine on agricultural trade issues under the deep and comprehensive Free-Trade Agreement (DCFTA) between the EU and Ukraine”), implemented by AFC and IAK.

You are welcome to communicate with the Project Managers of AFC at the trade fair Biofach by prior appointment.
