Agricultural Finance in Ukraine

The objective of this feasibility study is to analyze the bottlenecks in the agro sector for micro, small and medium sized farm enterprises and how they may be tackled with different financial instruments via the financial sector. Based on this analysis the study shall offer potential financial cooperation interventions to KfW which are feasible for implementation.

The overall objectives of both projects are to promote rural development by improving access to financial services for MSMEs in the agro-sector. Support to the agricultural MSMEs might include but is not limited to loans, loans combined with agri-insurance products, leasing products, and to a lesser extent short-term financing like input financing, agrarian or warehouse receipts financing structures, forward selling agreements for agricultural products, etc.. The projects shall also contribute to stabilize and broaden the Ukrainian financial system by providing quasi-equity to financial institutions.

Qualifications: 
  • Practical experience in conducting researches in the field of financial services,
  • Experience on provision of services to international financial institutions in the field of project development,
  • Knowledge of the specific character of operations of banking and insurance services in the Ukrainian market,
  • Knowledge of the Ukrainian agricultural market, agricultural production cycle and its peculiarity,
  • Knowledge of Russian or Ukrainian languages.
Start / Duration: 

The duration of the study is approximately four months.
