Team Leader / Pasture Land Education Specialist

Description :

The team leadership group for the Rural Development Project is stationed in Dushanbe at the PMU Project Director, Deputy Project Director and International Team Leader Rural Development Project. This group facilitates coordination of the PMU with Implementing Agency (IA) staff.

• familiar with Tajikistan pasture lands and livestock-pasture systems;
• Work with the Education Institute and the Team Leader to finalise and agree on the detail of implementation
• Prepare curricula and teaching aids for two degree level courses (introduction to pasture land management and Advanced pasture land management); with the possibility of an additional diploma level course on Introduction to pasture land management
• Train national faculty staff in range management / pasture land management so that during subsequent years they will assume an increasing role in teaching course
• Deliver the courses; co-teaching with national faculty. It is envisaged that the international specialist would teach 80% of the course in year 1; 50% in year 2 and 25% in years 3 and 4
• Develop a training demonstration Pasture Management Field Station for practical training of students
• Prepare ToR's and arrange for visiting lectures to upskill national staff through seminars and short courses
• Establish a network of co-operating institutions; both nationally and internationally. The visiting lectures programme is aimed to encourage this. The network may take a form of a professional association that holds an annual national conference with proceedings
• Establish links with extension services and identify candidates from the relevant educational institutions to participate in overseas level training.

Start/ Duration :

16 months over three years

Qualifications/Experience:

• Relevant academic qualification in pasture management or related disciplines
• Over 15 years experience in curricula development and teaching pasture land management or pasture agronomy for livestock systems
• Prior work experience in the region and / or in ADB funded projects would mean an asset
